Introduction
Welcome to my writing blog, where I detail the progress of my daily writing efforts. “One hour a day” is the goal. I’ve been working on this particular project for several years, though I have only recently realized that a daily routine will get the job done. Starting in July 2007, I’ve embarked on a quest to flesh out a complete rough draft, from beginning to end. Hundreds of pages of notes is well and good, but they must be taken to the next step if the final product is to be realized.
One hour a day?
At the very least, I’m doing one hour of writing (minimum) first thing in the morning each day before work. Saturdays and Sundays are a bit tougher (and consequently something I’m ironing out), but all in all I’m doing about 7 hours of writing a week, minimum. Some days fly by, others are grueling… but at the end of each session I feel great. As any achieved artist of any sort will surely tell you, inspiration is not something you wait for. You get yourself out there doing the work first, and inspiration will track you down. So that is what I’m doing: putting myself out there everyday. To learn more about how this came to be, check out this post. More to come, stay tuned!
